Banigala, Islamabad
Math Educator for EYP Grade 1
Join Our Team as a Grade 1 Math Educator
We are looking for a Grade 1 Math Educator at our Banigala campus.
This role is for someone who understands that mathematics at this stage is not about speed or getting the right answer. It is about building real understanding where every number and every operation has a reason, and children are encouraged to ask why.
You will be working with children at the most foundational stage of mathematical development, where concrete experience gradually becomes pictorial understanding, and pictorial understanding slowly becomes abstract thinking. How this transition is handled matters deeply, it shapes how a child relates to mathematics for years to come.
Position Overview
You will teach Grade 1 mathematics by moving carefully from the physical and visual world into abstract reasoning, never skipping steps, never asking a child to accept something before they have understood it.
This is not a role for someone who teaches a procedure and moves on. It is for someone who knows the "why" behind every concept, can break any idea into smaller parts until it makes sense, and understands that confidence at this age is built through meaning.
What You Will Do
Teach through concrete, pictorial, and abstract progression
Build number sense, place value understanding, and early mathematical reasoning
Design lessons around real-life contexts that make mathematics feel purposeful
Make "why" questions a regular part of your classroom
Break down every concept into smaller, logical steps before moving forward
Observe how each child is building understanding and adjust your teaching accordingly
Assess thinking, not just correct answers and communicate progress clearly
What We Are Looking For
Strong personal number sense and a deep understanding of place value
The ability to explain the reasoning behind every concept and operation
Experience working with early primary or Grade 1 children
Familiarity with concrete and pictorial approaches to teaching mathematics
Patience to slow down, break things apart, and rebuild understanding where needed
A belief that mathematics is a life skill, not a set of procedures to memorise
Openness to learning and refining your practice within Edopia's approach
What Matters Here
We are looking for someone who genuinely cannot teach a concept they do not fully understand themselves because they know children can tell the difference between a teacher who knows the answer and one who understands the idea.
Every step in this classroom should have a reason.
How to Apply
Apply through our form and include a short note about your background, your experience teaching early mathematics, and how you approach the "why" behind the concepts you teach.
