A school started without a blueprint

A school that views every child as a relation. Measured not by what they achieve alone, but by the consciousness they bring to their lives and what they give back to the people around them.

What kind of school is this

Edopia is an independent school built in Islamabad.

We do not follow a prescribed foreign system of learning. We have drawn inspiration from Project Zero and Reggio Emilia, but the programme has been developed here over more than a decade. Students in Grades 911 sit O Levels.
Edopia is a school built on a different understanding of education, that learning is not only about what a child knows, but who a child becomes, how a child lives with others, and what kind of inner life they carry into the world.
The Global South is a set of civilisations rooted in this land, this region, this history, where education shaped a whole person within a community. From the Indus Valley to the maktab, these were complete systems that asked questions modern schooling no longer does.

Learning Through Play

Preschool
Play based

Preschool
Play based and inquiry led

We begin where every child begins, in play. It is how young children think, build language, form relationships, develop imagination, and understand how the world works. Our preschool is fully play-based and inquiry-led, aligned with how children actually develop. There are no worksheets or drilling. There is rich provision, materials, space, time, and attentive adults, with the freedom to explore.

Building the foundation

Primary Years
Grades 1 to 3

In the early primary years, all children move through a shared foundational programme. English, Urdu, Mathematics, Science are taught with care, assessed honestly, and scaffolded well. The academic block runs alongside the community block and concentrations. Children are community members, practitioners, and inquirers.

Choosing Pathways

After Grade 3
Two Pathways

From Grade 4 onward, families and children choose between two academic pathways. Both are rigorous and equally respected. The choice depends on the child, how they learn, what they need, and where they are.

Pathway 1: Teacher-led

A structured, teacher-directed pathway with clear expectations, regular assessment, and direct instruction. This suits children who benefit from external structure and clear benchmarks.

Pathway 2: Self-paced

Children move through the curriculum at their own pace, guided by teachers who track their growth closely. There are no fixed grade levels. A child moves forward when they have understood, not when the calendar shifts.

Both pathways lead to O Levels for families who choose them. We prepare children well, while holding exams as one measure of competence, not the definition of education.

04
Placement assessment and family interview

The placement assessment helps us understand your child’s readiness for the grade, so they can enter without gaps that make learning harder than it needs to be. We also meet families. With limited spaces, we prioritise those who are aligned with the school’s approach and expectations.

Transition and
Settling In

For younger children, especially in Preschool, mid-July to mid-August is a settling-in period.

Children begin with shorter hours, often with parents on campus. Time increases gradually as they grow comfortable with their teachers, peers, and the space. Parents are welcome to stay during this phase. A child is never rushed into school life.

Older children also begin with a short settling period. The first days are used for orientation, helping them understand the community, the structure of the day, and giving them space to introduce themselves and find their place within it.

As a family, you will be working closely with your coordinators. We encourage you to build that relationship early and reach out whenever needed. The system can feel unfamiliar at first, and it often takes time to fully settle in and understand how it works.

But for families who align, it becomes something much deeper. A place where children and parents both feel at home.
