Banigala
Earth Skills Concentration Coach
About the role
Edopia is looking for an Earth Skills Concentration Coach who understands the land, knows how to work with their hands, and can bring that knowledge alive for children.
We are looking for someone who has grown up on a farm or in a deeply hands-on rural environment and has developed a broad range of practical skills through lived experience.
The Earth Skills Concentration will introduce children to the knowledge and skills that connect us with the land, materials, food, animals, and the art of making.
What you will work with children on
Depending on your areas of expertise, this may include:
Farming, planting and growing food
Animal rearing and care
Working with clay to make structures and objects
Natural dyeing
Weaving and working with natural fibres
Building with natural and reusable materials
Practical construction and making
Baking and traditional food-making
Understanding where materials, food and everyday things come from
Learning to work patiently, safely and confidently with tools and natural materials
Who we are looking for
You may be a farmer, craftsperson, maker, builder, artisan, rural practitioner or simply someone who has grown up learning these skills as part of everyday life.
What matters most is real, hands-on experience.
We are particularly looking for someone who:
Has grown up on a farm or in a rural setting
Is proficient in several of the skills above, ideally across different areas
Is comfortable working with natural materials, tools, animals and the land
Can build and make things independently rather than only demonstrate them
Naturally connects with children and enjoys learning alongside them
Is patient, grounded and confident without being overly instructional
Values practical knowledge, sustainability and resourcefulness
Can turn everyday skills into meaningful experiences for children
The Edopia approach
At Edopia, concentrations are spaces for children to go deeply into something real.
The role is not about delivering a traditional classroom lesson. It is about doing, making, experimenting, observing and learning through experience.
We want children to leave with more than knowledge. We want them to feel capable of growing something, making something, fixing something, caring for something and understanding their relationship with the world around them.
To apply
Please send us your CV along with a short note telling us about your background, the Earth Skills you have grown up with or developed, and the kinds of things you would love to teach children.
Experience matters more than formal qualifications for this role.
